Nerissa Safie, MD, FACOG
Obstetrics and Gynecology
Nerissa C. Safie, MD, FACOG is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with a special interest in keeping women healthy and strong through every stage of life, including pregnancy and menopause. She has been in private practice since 2011.
Dr. Safie received her bachelor of science degree in chemistry from California State University in San Bernardino graduated Suma Cam Laude. She earned her MD from Harvard University in Boston, in 2000. She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
She’s a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the American Medical Association. Dr. Safie has been a natural leader from a young age, having competed in the Model U.N. and become president of the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students while at Cal State.
A lover of dance and music, Dr. Safie choreographed comical dances for her fellow medical students that were highlighted in a second-year med-school showcase. Donates her hair to Locks of love. She speaks English and Tagalog fluently and also speaks some Spanish.
Joan Hazel Calinisan, MD, FACOG
Obstetrics and Gynecology
Joan Hazel Calinisan, MD, FACOG is an award-winning, board-certified OB/GYN who is passionate about helping women achieve and maintain optimal reproductive health at Trinity Women’s Health in Murrieta, California. She has a special interest in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and a keen interest in the latest reproductive technologies, anti-aging and menopausal health.
A graduate of the Biomedical Sciences Accelerated Program at the University of California at Riverside, where she earned her bachelor of science degree, Dr. Calinisan has an ongoing commitment to excellence in education. She achieved her MD with honors at the University of California at Los Angeles in 1997.
She then went on to postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California. She’s received specialized training in pelvic floor repair, and laparoscopic hysterectomy.
Dr. Calinisan belongs to many professional organizations, including the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American College of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, and the American Medical Association. She is currently Clinical Professor in OB/GYN at Western University Medical School in Pomona, California, Touro University in Vallejo, California
and medical student mentor for UCLA. She is also a consultant and proctor at Cooper Surgical, Myriad Genetics and Viacord. Dr. Calinisan has held leadership positions including Chair of OB/GYN and Chief of Staff at Loma Linda Medical Center, Murrieta, California
She received the Patients’ Choice Award from vitals.com in 2010, 2011 and 2018. In 2010, Dr. Calinisan was named Top OB/GYN Inland Empire by IE Family Magazine. She speaks English, Spanish, and Tagalog.
Stephanie A. Francis, DMSC, MSe, PA-C
Obstetrics and Gynecology
Stephanie A. Francis, DMSC, MSe, PA-C has more than fifteen years of expanded health care experience in Women’s Health and Obstetrics. She brings a diverse background that spans several decades across multiple areas of medical responsibility, including work in Orthopedics, Family Practice, and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Stephanie holds two degrees from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona. Her most recent is a Doctorate of Medical Science with an emphasis in administration, completed in 2021. She also earned a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies with a focus on education and administration in 2012. She completed her Physician Assistant education at Riverside Community College, Moreno Valley Campus, through the Riverside University Health System in 2009, and obtained her Physician Assistant Board Certification in 2010.
Stephanie believes strongly in the importance of “paying it forward.” She demonstrates this commitment by serving as a Clinical Proctor and adjunct faculty member for the Marshall B. Ketchum University Physician Assistant Program in Fullerton, California, for four years—earning exceptional end-of-rotation student reviews.
Her passion lies in supporting, caring for, and educating patients, as well as contributing to the strength of the medical community. Throughout her career, Stephanie has remained dedicated to patient health and education. She believes, “A patient who understands their healthcare can better help themselves, their families, and their clinicians.”
A resident of the Temecula Valley since the 1970s, Stephanie enjoys hiking and traveling in her free time. Some of her outdoor adventures include hiking to the Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon (twice), completing a rim-to-rim trek, summiting Mt. Whitney in the Sierra Nevadas, and hiking the Machu Picchu Trail from Piscacucho to the ancient ruins in 2018.
